To enable Philomène to remain in France, Georges finds her a husband – who dies conveniently of natural causes a month after the wedding. Georges repeats the trick with Philomène's sister, Catherine – marrying her off to an old man who dies suddenly so that the scheming trio can profit from his life insurance. Zobel and Karl are a long time gay couple who live together in a trailer home with Lizzie, Zobel's spunky daughter from a heterosexual misadventure. Together these three form a team of thieves who eke out an existence as pickpockets. After a botched job, Karl becomes unable to work, forcing Zobel and Lizzie to seek out a new partner. Lizzie recruits Rudolf, the boyishly charming town misfit. Reluctantly, Zobel allows Rudolf to join them but warns him to never break the golden rule: "No exchanging of bodily fluids within the team." This dictum becomes increasingly difficult to live by as Lizzie's cravings and Zobel's own passions toward Rudolf intensify. Eventually, the golden rule is broken by Lizzie...and then again by Zobel (unbeknownst to Lizzie, of course). An intricate love triangle soon develops amongst the three that is shaped by deception, desire, and betrayal.

A curious teenage boy spies on the lonely bachelor who lives across the street and observes that he always has a handful of bills, so the boy decides to rob him. When the boy can't go through with the crime, he seeks out the bachelor to teach him something about life that the teen feels he is missing.
The following films were all made in 1976. I do not wish to describe them. (S.B.)

Homer Garcon is an unpublished and frustrated science fiction writer living off the success of his wife, Trude Garcon-Moore, a busy Hollywood producer. As a result, he finds himself "trapped" in lavish surroundings - his luxury jail - and with publisher rejection letters piling high, Homer has convinced himself of his wife's infidelity. Phillips' darkly-comic script follows Homer as he dives into the prickly territories of self-awareness and self pity, in his quest to find the truth about his possibly cheating wife--and himself--all at a Valentine's Day dinner decidedly set for three. A largely dialogue-driven film, A Swingin' Trio is about four things: love, music, betrayal, and one really good dinner.

When three exceptional talented instrumentalists join together and record an album, the music often bogs down in endless showcases of technique. On Vento Bravo the musicians are bigger than that; they dedicate their talents to music. Nosso Trio (“our trio”) was born in 2002, when bassist Ney Conceição joined guitarist Nelson Faria and drummer Kiko Freitas.
Filmed in Bad Kissingen's historic Weisser Saal, this concert features Wolf Harden, Michael Mucke and Jens Peter Maintz - collectively known as the Trio Fontenay -- taking the stage before a local audience in their home country. Selections include Mozart's Trio in B-flat Major, K 502; Hans Werner Henze's "Kammersonate;" and Brahms's Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello in C Major, Op. 87.
This Educational Comedies one-reeler is all about Walter Catlett in his obnoxious mode as he somehow imposes himself completely on Al St. John and Dorothy Granger as they go on their honeymoon. Dorothy never seems to notice anything odd about this situation -- which renders it all the funnier -- while Al St. John builds up quite a head of steam in what amounts to a ten-minute slow burn, worthy of Edgar Kennedy at his best.
French bass virtuoso Renaud Garcia-Fons has grown into a living legend, both for his breathtaking technique and his talent as a composer. A dazzling performer on five strings, he uses his instrument's entire range, dominating the music and making the bowed double bass sound more like a cello or a violin.
The expansive length of Feldman’s Trio (1 hr., 45 min., 22 sec.) requires a new approach to listening, which takes scale, the physical experience of sound, and novel uses of musical memory into consideration. With his delicate manipulation of musical materials, Feldman blurs the listener’s sense of time as their musical memory struggles to distinguish between past and present sounds - listeners are free to lose themselves in the beauty of each musical moment. Aki Takahashi, piano; Rohan de Saram, cello; Marc Sabat, violin.
